1) As that classic whistled version of “Sweet Georgia Brown” filters through the overhead speakers, the star-spangled Harlem Globetrotters will be at Consol Energy Center today to show off their incredibly well-coordinated, stylish b-ball tricks. The Globetrotters currently have a record of about 13,000 to six against their rivals, the Washington Generals. However, the big news earlier this year is that they will no longer be playing the Generals. Maybe the Generals finally have had enough. 1 and 6 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
2) Bill Deasy’s musical career began in earnest in a Grove City apartment when he and a few locals got together for a jam session. Those guys, The Gathering Field, became the ’90s-era regional favorite. Since that humble beginning, Deasy has stacked up a résumé that would help him “make it” in a place like New York and L.A.—He’s had a contract with Atlantic Records, opened for Springsteen and Dylan, and his “Good Things Are Happening” was a theme song for a “Good Morning America” video. Yet he’s remained rooted in Pittsburgh. Today, he’s back for his annual Boxing Day show, this year being held at Pittsburgh Winery. Good things are indeed happening! 8 p.m. 2815 Penn Ave., Strip District.
3) Many top off the Christmas season by enjoying music from their favorite artists. For some Pittsburghers, that means a Clarks’ show, even though it may be difficult seeing a “Penny on the Floor” as fans file in for The Clarks’ annual holiday show at the Rex Theater tonight and tomorrow. The Clarks’ latest album is Feathers and Bones. 8:30 p.m. 1602 E. Carson St., South Side.
4) Phat Man Dee, who calls herself a cosmic jazz chanteuse with a twist of the bizarre, is presenting A Phattie Little Holiday: A Jazz and Burlesque Holiday Experience at Altar Bar. An assortment of dancers from different burlesque companies will be performing as will Phat Man Dee and the Cultural District. 9 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.
5) Dancing Queen will put people on the dance floor at Baja Bar & Grill. The disco/funk band takes the stage at 8 p.m. 1366 Old Freeport Rd., O’Hara Township.
