1) Lidia’s Pittsburgh welcomes back their namesake, Emmy-award winning TV host, chef and author, Lidia Bastianich, today in celebration of the launch of her new cookbook, Lidia’s Celebrate Like an Italian: 220 Foolproof Recipes That Make Every Meal a Party. The book was released by Alfred A. Knopf this past week. She co-wrote the book with her daughter Tanya Bastianich Manuali. The book showcases 220 recipes with Lidia’s Italian flair that can be used for almost any entertaining occassion. Also included in the book are 60 full color photos, so it’s not only delicious to use but to look at as well. Lidia will be greeting guests at the restaurant and signing copies of her new book from 4:30 – 10 p.m.
Lidia’s Executive Chef Daniel Walker will offer a special four-course prix fixe menu with optional wine pairing options. The menu for the celebration will include offerings such as: Italian deviled eggs, Montasio frico with shrimp and scallions, pear and Pecorino ravioli with cacio e pepe sauce, pappardelle with beef guazzetto, heritage pork Shank with barley risotto, scallopine of chicken breast, with lemon caper and olive. Two of the dessert selections are chocolate ricotta cheesecake and coffee panna cotta. Coffee and tea are included with the dinner. 2) The Pens are playing a home game at PPG Paints Arena tonight against the Edmonton Oilers. The puck drops at 7 p.m. Next up for the Penguins is a home game Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets. The Pens are currently in second place, right behind the New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. Let’s go Pens! 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
