1) The Pitt men’s basketball team and Coach Kevin Stallings—whose had a challenging job of trying to rebuild a new team with his style of play this season— take on the No. 15 Miami Hurricanes squad. This game opens the ACC season play for both teams. Let’s hope the basketball team can upset Miami like the football team did in November! Tip-off is at 4 p.m. Next up is an away game against the Louisville Cardinals, sans long-time Coach Rick Pitino. Hail to Pitt! Petersen Events Center, 3719 Terrace St., Oakland.
3) Attention sports aficionados: There’s a great opportunity beginning today to watch several NCAA Division I hockey teams battle for the top prize in the Three Rivers Classic hockey tournament, presented by Robert Morris University. Other teams competing are Providence College, Lake Superior State University, and Arizona State University. This is the second day of the two-day tournament. First game starts at 4:30 p.m. PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
