1) The Pittsburgh Earth Day Tailgate Tour has several different components to the celebration and tribute to Mother Earth. The day begins in two places, one is the Energy Innovation Center in the Hill District. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a Chill & Grill with Tailgate Tastings prepared by Chef Claudy Pierre from the E.A.T. Initiative, and Eminent Hospitality Group. Also, on The Hill to celebrate Earth Day, will be Ki Ki from WAMO 107.3 along with The Pirate Parrot, The Bucco Brigade and the Pittsburgh
Pirates Pierogies.
Also starting at 11 a.m. and running through 6 p.m., Market Square will host music and eco-friendly activities booths of interest to all ages. Music highlights include The Uprooted Band Featuring Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root fame. The band’s performance will be part of the 25th anniversary of the album When I Woke. Additional performances include The Soulful Femme Band, NASH.V.ILL featuring Byron Nash, and DJ Arie Cole. The radio team from Star 100.7 will also be on hand. The Earth Day festivities will continue at the Pirate game at 6:35 p.m. against the Cincinnati Reds with a Salute to Sustainability at the diamond. Electric vehicles will be showcased throughout the events.
2) Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers are very popular in every part of this region (and country) and this month they’ll be heatin’ up the ‘Burgh. Joe Grushecky’s latest album is 2018’s More Yesterdays Than Tomorrows. There is also a 25th Anniversary edition reissue of Grushecky and The Houserockers’ classic, American Babylon, which was produced by Bruce Springsteen. Grushecky and The Houserockers make an annual trip to Asbury Park, New Jersey, to play some concerts there. Hear Grushecky classics and newer tunes tonight at Rivers Casino. 9 p.m. 777 Casino Dr., North Shore. (R.H.)
