What does it mean to be human? The Pittsburgh Humanities Festival, held annually since 2015, is set to tackle that topic beginning today. The week-long festival explores the human experience through the lenses of various disciplines including culture, art, music, dance, theater, fashion, and literature. A joint production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Humanities Center at Carnegie Mellon University, the festival is billed as A Week of bright Ideas in the Cultural District. Headlining events include Moral AI and How We Get There (April 3), Tits Up: What Sex Workers, Milk Bankers, Plastic Surgeons, Bra Designers, and Witches Tell Us about Breasts with Sarah Thornton (April 4), Exploring the Tastes, Perceptions, and Histories of Soul Food (April 5), and Terence Blanchard & Damon Young: Creating Worlds Through Jazz (April 8). For information on all of the events visit the Pittsburgh Humanities Festival website.
