1) September 22 to 24 Texture Contemporary Ballet will present Unyielding Now at the New Hazlett Theater. The program will feature a world premiere work choreographed by Artistic Director Alan Obuzor, a world premiere choreographed by Texture Resident Dancer Madeline Kendall Schreiber, a Texture premiere by guest choreographer Nicole Haskins, and the return of Timbre which was last performed in 2017. Dance numbers on the program are Selcouth, Dorian, With Alacrity…, and Timbre. Dancers for the program will include: Abigrace Diprima, Madeline Kendall Schreiber, Katie Miller, Alan Obuzor, Jillian Sinko, Baylee Sullivan, and Elaina Sutula. The dance numbers will be performed to musical selections from Damien Rice, Alt-J, Glass Animals, Rene Aubry, The Airborne Toxic Event, Wael Elhalaby and Anna Roznowska, Matteo Saggese, Anna Phoebe, Sisulu, Luke Howard, Erland Cooper, Mari Silje Samuelsen, Scoring Berlin, Erland Cooper, Scottish Ensemble, Josephine Stephenson, and Simon Armitage. 8 p.m. 6 Allegheny Square E, North Side.
2) Gallery Crawl in the Cultural District is happening tonight; it features visual arts, musical performances, and interactive exhibits. All events are free and take place at a variety of galleries, art spaces, and venues. Some galleries offer drinks and hors d’oeuvres. What a great way to sample some of Pittsburgh’s great arts and entertainment! 5:30 – 10 p.m., Cultural District.
3) Penn Brewery is in full-swing with its Oktoberfest celebration at the brewery, restaurant and bar complex. Plenty of fine Penn Brews, German food and entertainment are on tap. Ends Sunday. 800 Vinial St., Troy Hill. It’s also the start of the second Oktoberfest Weekend at a “little” German restaurant on the South Side, Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh. The event features the winning combination of German food, beer, and music. So get on over and get your schnitzel on! Ends September 30. 2705 Water St. , SouthSide Works.
