Daybreaker, the global leader in morning dance parties, is bringing its transformative Purple Tour to Pittsburgh today. “From noon to 2:00 pm at the William Pitt Union Plaza, Daybreaker will host an electrifying outdoor dance party to rally the community around early voting and inspire civic engagement in the upcoming election. The event is part of a 15-city national tour that blends dance, music, and joyful celebration to unite people across political divides and promote the spirit of democracy. The Pittsburgh celebration will feature live music, energizing performances, and a complimentary lunch for attendees.” The Purple Tour is supported nationally by noted figures like comedian Wanda Sykes, NFL star Tyrann Mathieu, actor Anthony Ramos, WNBA All-Star Breanna Stewart, and “Dancing with the Stars” Julianne Hough, the event aims to turn the often stressful political season into a unifying experience centered on positivity and participation. “After the dance party, attendees will be led by a live band and performers to nearby early voting locations, turning the typically solitary act of voting into a shared, high-energy moment.
“The Purple Tour’s mission is to redefine how Americans view voting, turning it from a civic obligation into an empowering, joyful experience that bridges political lines. Partnering with the Civic Responsibility Project, MTV, Eventbrite, and Crooked Media’s Vote Save America, the initiative aims to address issues like voter apathy, loneliness, and hyper-polarization, using dance and community engagement to bring people together.” “We believe that voting should feel like an exciting opportunity—not a chore,” said Ashley Spillane, founder of the Civic Responsibility Project. “With an election right around the corner, we’re excited to bring this innovative event to Pittsburgh, where we hope to show that civic engagement can be fun and meaningful.” The event is free and open to the public. Participants can register in advance or show up on the day of the event. Whether you’re a student, community leader, or first-time voter, everyone is welcome to join the celebration and get inspired to take action this election season. Daybreakers had their first Pittsburgh event this past April at the Roxian Theatre with a morning yoga session followed by a dance party, both of which encouraged people to be involved and vote.
