The region’s only film festival that demonstrates the creativity and lives of those living with disabilities, ReelAbilities Pittsburgh is now in it’s 11th year. The Festival will run September 7 – 13 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and online. This year’s program will include five feature films and 14 short films screening in person and virtually. The Festival will also feature the Pittsburgh premiere of Abled: The Blake Leeper Story on Saturday, September 9. It will be preceded by a presentation of the Richard Meritzer Award and followed by a live Q&A via Zoom with Blake Leeper. There will also be a free art exhibit featuring works by artists from Studio Forget-Me-Not!, with artists in attendance and art available for purchase. Film Pittsburgh’s Executive Director, Kathryn Spitz Cohan, said, “This festival has such a positive impact on our community because it enables our friends and neighbors living with disabilities to see themselves represented on screen. It also exposes everyone to more realistic experiences of those living with disabilities.” ReelAbilities Pittsburgh is co-sponsored by Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse. 350 Forbes Ave., Downtown.
