“Champions Make Their Own Luck.” Perhaps this slogan was never truer than for a business that started during a pandemic. Such is the case for Lucky Sign Spirits, a newer distillery that started in Millvale and one which is forging ahead with sales of bottled liquor. The distillery opened in August 2020, and later that month, it unveiled T-shirts, designed by CommonWealth Press, with the slogan printed on them. The spirits include bottled Cardshark Bourbon Whiskey and Cardshark Rye Whiskey. Other spirits include the Girty’s Run Gin, Limoncello, rock & rye, vodka, aquavit, Winking Devil (fireball), Cherokee White Eagle Corn Whiskey, and raki. Christian Kahle and Matt Brudnok co-founded Lucky Sign. “We are putting flavor forward, and people really are responding to that,” Kahle said over the phone. “All of our spirits have a lot of character to them, and that’s what we’re going for.” A new big seller for Lucky Sign is their canned cocktails made from vodka and natural flavors. Varieties include Key Lime & Dill Fizz and Blood Orange & Rosemary Fizz. Lucky Sign has moved to a new location a few years ago with distillery, bar, and retail shop at 50 Oak Road, Gibsonia. You can also find their products in many restaurants and bars in the Pittsburgh area. (C.M., R.H.)
