Oktoberfest Pittsburgh Taps In with Big Fun Downtown (Thurs., 10/3/24)

It is Entertainment Central Pittsburgh’s opinion that a city can not have too many Oktoberfests, especially one that involves a Ferris Wheel on a bridge (Roberto Clemente/Sixth Street Bridge). Market Square is the main hub which will be transformed into a Bavarian village with booths, colorful banners, and traditional Oktoberfest decorations. There visitors will find local entertainment, traditional games, and a variety of food and beverage options. There will be Feats of Strength (no, not the “Seinfeld” TV show kind) and yes, a variety of local and German beers as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Organizers promise a blend of “Bavarian tradition and Steel City spirit.” On the bridge there will be also be an all-ages-friendly Karneval which will feature food vendors, activities, and carnival style games. Oktoberfest Pittsburgh runs through October 13. The Market Square Biergarten is open weekdays noon to 8 p.m. and weekends noon to 10 p.m. The Karneval and Ferris Wheel hours are: weekdays and weekends: noon to 8 p.m.; and until midnight after the Steelers’ game on October 6. Advance purchase tickets for the Ferris Wheel are recommended.
