1) Nadia Salon in Shadyside is being transformed today into a magical holiday place for the Promenade on Walnut. The Promenade is a showcase of fashion, music, performance and art, including an exciting dance exhibition by the talented dancers of Continuum Dance Theater. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Free. There’s also a VIP reception from 3-4 p.m., a paid portion of this event.  5519 Walnut Street (2nd floor), Shadyside.

2) Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul are in concert tonight at Byham Theater. Ivers, a talented fiddle player, joyfully weaves Irish holiday songs and traditions with original music and Irish dance for an uptempo, seasonal celebration. Soul An Nollaig-An Irish Christmas is a fun night for the Irish, and everyone else. 8 p.m. Byham Theater.

3) Chris Knight (considered a major name in alternative country these days) plays an acoustic evening at the Thunderbird Cafe. Knight is a singer/songwriter from Kentucky, whose rising music career is unfolding on his own terms. His hits include “It Ain’t Easy Being Me,” “Framed,”  “Heart of Stone” and the popular “She Couldn’t Change Me,” written for the country group Montgomery Gentry.  8 p.m. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.

4) Arthurdale Festival of Trees continues today in Arthurdale, West Virginia. Celebrate  the holidays in Eleanor Roosevelt’s little Christmas village. Today is “Family Day” at  the Festival, with activities that include bidding on the customized Christmas trees and holiday decorations, shopping in the Christmas Craft Market, making winter crafts with an elf, taking a holiday hay ride; with plenty of cider, cocoa and other treats. Photographer Steve Marra will be taking family portraits (sign-ups encouraged). 12-4 p.m. Arthurdale, West Virginia.
