Went Phishing and said “Hi” to the Clarks. On the way to the Meadows to see Paul, encountered Cinderella and a Spector. No, this isn’t lost verses from Don McLean’s American Pie recording; with so many interesting names of the great entertainers in Pittsburgh tonight I couldn’t help putting them in a little verse.
1) Phish jams out First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown. Doors open 6:30 pm.
2) Hometown Favorites, The Clarks w/ Chris Higbee are in concert at Stage AE on the North Shore. Gates open at 6:30 pm.
3) The Meadows showcases one of rock’s best singers, Paul Rodgers formerly of Bad Company, Free, and the Firm. Show starts at 8 pm.
4) Cinderella w/special guests Icarus Witch and Sicksense, Carnegie Library Music Hall of Homestead, 8 pm show.
5) Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer, R&B singer Ronnie Spector plays a free outdoor show in Kittaning at 7 pm at the J.P. Murtha Ampitheater on the riverfront as part of the Arts on the Allegheny series. Opening act is Heffner & Hefner.
6) The Senator John Heinz Regional History Center is one happening place this weekend. Inside they are presenting, Hometown – Homegrown, A Fun & Flavorful Food Expo. For the price of a regular admission, visitors can sample food and drink from over 50 local restaurants and vendors. Rick Sebak and Chris Fennimore, from WQED TV, will be conducting three sessions about favorite cookie recipes. There will also be a Virtual Cookie Table Competition. 10 am to 3 pm.
Outside, the Third Annual Bocce Tournament and Festival is occurring. Italian food, beverages and live entertainment are all featured. Watch bocce teams compete against one another. We hear John Barsotti of the Common Plea Hospitality Group throws a strong bocce ball! Lots of fun and it benefits the Italian American Endowed Fund. 1 pm to dusk.
