1) Public Lands is the new concept that Dick’s Sporting Goods has switched over its Cranberry Township Field and Stream store over to. The grand opening of the new Cranberry Township Public Lands store begins on Friday, continues through today, ending on Sunday. The festivities will include product demos from well-known outdoor equipment manufacturers, info about local outdoor and conservation organizations, live music, games, food trucks, and beer from Stick City Brewing. Today’s music lineup is quite impressive with Grammy Award-winning rock group Portugal. The Man with special guest Brittany Howard (3 p.m.), lead vocalist and guitarist of Alabama Shakes; and Pittsburgh R&B/soul singer INEZ (4:30 p.m.). Free. Public Lands donates 1% of all sales to its Public Lands Fund for its partner conservation organizations. 1000 Cranberry Square Dr., Cranberry Township.
2) Bill Toms and Hard Rain with the Soulville Horns will be rockin’ out Club Cafe this evening for an album release party for Keep Movin’ On. See our story on the making of the album. Toms’ slightly raspy, deeply soulful voice and his guitar playing prowess combine with the drums, horns, and rest of the band to create a hot rock sound. Pierce Dipner opens. 8 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.
3) 2020 and 2021 have been very tough years for the hospitality industry. Moe’s Southwest Grill‘s local owner, Mike Geiger, appreciates the support his business has received from the communities they have locations in. As a way of repaying the public, Geiger, in collaboration with Easy Street Promotions, has created the Thank You Pittsburgh Brewery Tour. Today marks the sixth and final stop on the tour and is at Full Pint Brewing in Warrendale. In addition to free food from Moe’s there will be live music from Josh Jams. 4) Pitt Football was on a roll with wins over UMass and Tennessee, then they ran into a new buzz saw, Western Michigan University, from the great town of Kalamazoo. Pitt is now 2-1. On the bright side, quarterback Kenny Pickett tied Dan Marino’s record for most touchdowns in a game with six. Today the Panthers will try and get back on track with a noon game against New Hampshire, Next week they play Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Heinz Field. 100 Art Rooney Ave.
