Brooks + Dunn in Concert at PPG Paints Arena; ‘Madagascar: the Musical Live!’ Onstage at the Benedum (Fri., 5/12/23)

1) There aren’t many big music duos these days which makes the continuing country music success of Brooks & Dunn all the sweeter. They did retire the partnership in 2010 which left the pair, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, free to pursue solo interests. They decided to reunite in 2015 and released a new album, their latest, Reboot, in 2019. The album is a rerecording of a selection of Brooks & Dunn songs done again with various musical collaborators. Luke Combs, Kane Brown, Kacey Musgraves, Jon Pardee, and Ashley McBryde all assisted in the project. See Brooks & Dunn along with special guests Scotty McCreery and Megan Moroney at PPG Paints Arena. 7 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.

MADAGASCAR THE MUSICAL LIVE! adapted from the DreamWorks film, produced by Red Tail Live and The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Touring company at Benedum Center. May 12.

2) When the most popular animals in New York’s Central Park Zoo escape, all the world goes wild. Of course no one seems much afraid of these silly, fun-loving, and adventurous beasts who must redeem themselves by sailing to Madagascar, King Julien’s madcap land, lovingly idealized as a world of lemurs and penguins and other anthropomorphic critters. Of course, too, the show is child-friendly, designed to get everyone singing and clapping to the hit songs of the original film, as well as a few new ones written for this show. Madagascar The Musical Live! plays at Benedum Center, 237 7th St., Cultural District. 7 p.m. Today only. (C.P.O.)
