Cool Picks Friday January 4, 2013

Cool Picks brings you the best in Pittsburgh entertainment every day!

1) Tonight Club Cafe is featuring the rock bands: Broken Fences, Bethesda, and Polar Scout in a late show that begins at 10:30 p.m. Bethesda played the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in 2012. 56-58 S. 12th St. South Side.

2) Also on the South Side tonight is a multiple band bill at the Smiling Moose. Hip hop artist Worth Whyle tops the bill; Cassius and Nick Rage are the special guests. 10 p.m. 1306 E. Carson St.

3) Totally 80s, an eighties music tribute band who describe their music as “Totally Gnarly” and “Totally Awesome,” play Jergel’s in Warrendale tonight. 9 p.m. 103 Slade Lane.

4) This is  a busy time of year for movie openings including one filmed and premiered here in Pittsburgh, Jack Reacher, starring Tom Cruise. Cruise plays a former military police officer who is called back into service to assist in the defense of an ex-army sniper accused of gunning down five people. He drives a hot ‘66 Chevrolet Chevelle SS across some of Pittsburgh prettiest panoramas as he tries to solve the mystery. This could be the movie that propels Tom Cruise to the top again. Look for the highly talented, veteran actor Robert Duvall in the film.
