Cool Picks Saturday January 5, 2013

Cool Picks brings you the best in Pittsburgh entertainment every day!

1) NOLA on the square presents Neon Swing X-perience, who bill themselves as the “only band bold enough to jump, jive and rock.” The musical experience starts at 8 p.m. No cover.  24 Market Square. Downtown.

2) Around the corner at Andy’s Wine Bar talented vocalist Tania Grubbs is smoothly singing many jazz standards from 8 p.m. to midnight. 510 Market Street in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel.

3) If you’re a Pitt sports fan, there’s a cool Pitt doubleheader this Saturday. A good place to game watch is the Wheelhouse Restaurant and Bar at the River’s Casino. North Shore

4) Union Pig & ChickenKevin Sousa’s recently launched BBQ and fried chicken restaurant and bar, is serving up some delicious, tender beef brisket, along with ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, greens…and whoopie pies.  The East Liberty hot spot is also open late for midnight munchies:  Mon.-Thurs.- ’til midnight;   Fri. & Sat.- 1 a.m.;  Sunday – 9 p.m. There’s an incredible “eat-in” BBQ special–50% off–from 10 p.m. – midnight during the week, and 11 p.m. – 1 a.m Friday and Saturday.  and if you’d rather eat when the sun’s out, do lunch Mon. -Sat.
