1) The Pitt Panthers football team is coming off a big upset win last week against highly ranked Virgina Tech. Today they will face the Runnin’ Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb University.  Kickoff 3:30 p.m., Heinz Field.

2) Penn Brewery has begun their Oktoberfest celebration at the brewery, restaurant and bar complex. Plenty of fine Penn Brews, German food and entertainment are on tap. Today’s music lineup is: Guadi Buam (inside)7:30-10 p.m.; Heimet Klang (tent) 5-8 p.m.; Autobahn (tent)  8:30 p.m. – midnight.

3) Pittsburgh rock royalty, Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, play a gig tonight at Frankie’s Squirrel Hill.  9 p.m. 5832 Forward Ave.

4) Multi-tasking is sometimes necessary in our busy lives. What about putting grocery shopping and entertainment together? Jazz recording artists Michele Bensen and Chris Pangikas are playing a different type of venue today; they are performing in the cafe area at Giant Eagle Market District store in Shadyside from noon-2 p.m. No cover charge and bananas are only .54 cents a pound. 5550 Centre Ave., Shadyside.
