1) Thunderbird Cafe’s “Space Exchange” jazz series continues tonight with Matt Booth leading a tribute to the music of bass guitarist Bill Frisell. 9 p.m. No cover. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.

2) At the South Side’s Smiling Moose, there’s Happy Hour (5 – 7 p.m.), a Penguins hockey game (7:30 p.m. with $2 Labatt pints) and Open Mic/Stand Up comedy Night (9:30 p.m.). No cover. 1306 E. Carson St., South Side.

3) Jazz guitarist Eric Suesoff plays the Backstage Bar at Theater Square as part of the BNY Mellon Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s “JazzLive” series. 8 p.m. No cover. 655 Penn Ave, Downtown Cultural District.

4) Director Quentin Tarantino’s (who just won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director) latest epic, Django Unchained, opened hot at the cineplexes over the holidays. The film stars Jamie Fox as an escaped slave in the pre-war South.  If he helps a bounty hunter track down the murderous Brittle Brothers he will win his freedom.  Also starring are: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson.
