1) Classic rock, jam band, War is in concert at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale. War shot to fame in the 1970’s on songs: “Cisco Kid,” “Spill The Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?,” “The World is A Ghetto,” and “Lowrider.” Tonight, make war and love. 8 p.m. 103 Slade Lane, Warrendale.

2) The Penguins are back in action and getting ready to start a shortened season. As a “thank you” to their fans for hanging on while the NHL players and owners worked out a new agreement, they are offering free admission to tonight’s “Black and Gold” game. The “Black and Gold” game is a pre-season tune-up game where the Penguins take on the Penguins. You get to see your favorite team and players on both sides of the ice. Free admission (and parking at Consol Energy Center surface lots) is first come first serve. 7 p.m. Consol energy Center, Uptown.

2) Red Bull Thre3Style is going down tonight at Altar Bar. DJ Hank, DJ Midas, DJ Petey C, and Pete Butta go all in to get the crown off their buts and on their feet dancing to their custom groove mixes. Whatever DJ makes best use of creativity, technical skills, putting a mix  together from at least three different musical genres, and gets the most people on the dance floor wins the competition. 10 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.

3) The Smiling Moose got it all going on tonight. Start off with their nightly happy hour at five (’til 7 p.m.), bands (Honour Crest, with Bury Thy Kingdom, and Chain The Scylla) start at 6:30 p.m., and finish the night with Rock Star Karaoke (begins at 9 p.m.).
