Cool Picks brings you the best in Pittsburgh entertainment every day!

1). The Kopecky Family Band might not actually share DNA, but this Nashville 6-piece certainly plays like they share a heartbeat. Their dynamic sound features strings, guitars, keyboards, horns, and gorgeous vocals. Catch them tonight at Club Café. 8 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

2) For a night of innovative drama, head to the Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret Theater for You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up. The play, which is based on a book of the same name, finds comedy in the challenges of preserving a marriage between opposing personalities. When Judd Apatow calls it “hilarious,” you know you’re in for a fun ride. 7:30 p.m. 655 Penn Ave., Cultural District.

3) Punk rock band Hot Water Music is shaking things up over at the Altar Bar. Hot Water Music’s sound has been characterized as both “post-hardcore” and “emo.” They’ve previously played alongside the likes of The Bouncing Souls, Against ME! and NOFX. 8 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.

4) Watch the funny unfold at the Pittsburgh Improv with Sheetcake, a comedy collective that delights in creating unscripted comedy on the fly through a variety of improv sketches. Think Whose Line is it, Anyway?, minus Drew Carey.  8p.m. The Stacks at the Waterfront, 166 E. Bridge St., Homestead.
