1) Dinosaur Jr, an alternative rock band, plays Mr. Smalls Funhouse. Dinosaur Jr. is especially well-know for the talented guitar play of lead guitarist J Mascis. Top songs include “Feel The Pain;” “Over It;” “Said The People.” Special guest is Shearwater. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

2) The Hard Rock Cafe is keeping the beat tonight; British ska rockers The English Beat (In England they’re just called ‘The Beat”) are in town this evening.  Their best known hits are “Mirror in the Bathroom” and “Save it for Later.” Special guests are Paul Collins Beat and The Pressure. 8 p.m., 230 W. Station Square Dr.

3) Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World’s Fairs is a very interesting, ongoing exhibit at the Carnegie Museum of Art based on design items for world’s fairs, 1851-1939. During this period the fairs were major display showcases for debuting advancements in modern living. The exhibit includes over 200 pieces of metalwork, jewelry, furniture, glass, ceramics and textiles by top designers of the day. Runs through February 24th. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

4) Scott, Rob & Greg of the popular Pittsburgh rock band, The Clarks, are playing several acoustic song sets at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. 8 p.m. 103 Slade Lane, Warrendale.
