Today Is The Day at Mr. Smalls Funhouse (CP’s Sun. 3/10/13)

1) Today is the day for Today Is The Day to perform at Mr. Small’s Funhouse (I’m sure I’m the first to use that witty hook, yeah right). The band is led by innovative frontman Steve Austin (trivia note: the same name as the main character in the Six Million Dollar Man TV show from the 1970s).  Metal, noise, psychedelia and rock are fused together to create an angry, violent sound.  Special guests are Black Tusk, KEN Mode and Fight Amp. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

2) Pens take on the Islanders in a 7:00 p.m. hockey game at the Consol Energy Center.  1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.

3) Jazz Conspiracy is jamming  in an early show at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. 7 p.m. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.

4) The 32nd annual Duquesne Light Home & Garden Show continues today through Sunday. Billed as the “largest home event in Pennsylvania,” the show is held every year at the David Lawrence Convention Center. The Home and Garden show features over 1,600 exhibitors and twice daily, jazz performances by the CAPA High School House Band (1 and 3 p.m.). Also see the Gettysburg 150Travel Back in Time with a Union Army encampment from Pittsburgh’s own Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd., Downtown.
