Palace Jewel (CP’s Wed. 3/20/13)

1) Jewel, one of America’s finest singer/songwriters is in concert at the Palace Theater. A Grammy nominated artist who has sold over 27 million albums, Jewel was raised in the Alaskan wilderness and is married to legendary bull rider Ty Murray.  Her songs include “You Were Meant for Me,” and “Who Will Save Your Soul.”  Holly Williams, the late country music legend Hank Williams’ daughter opens.  7:30 p.m.. 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg.

2) They Might Be Giants, a Grammy award-winning alternative rock band from Brooklyn, New York pulls lands in the ‘burg tonight. The band was started by John Flansburgh and John Linnell and is touring in support of their latest album, Nanobots. Special guest is Moon Hooch 7:30 p.m. Mr. Smalls Funhouse  400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

3) Breath & Imagination, the latest production from City Theatre, begins its month-long run this evening. The world premiere of  a moving new musical by Daniel Beaty, the story follows Roland Hayes from the dirt roads of Georgia to European stages where he becomes the first classically trained African-American vocalist to be enjoyed by international audiences. A story of ambition and spirituality. Directed by Darko Tresnjak, starring Jubilant Sykes (Roland Hayes), Kecia Lewis-Evans (Angel Mo’) with pianist/actor Tom Frey.  1 and 7 p.m. 1300 Bingham St., South Side.

4) Noted Pittsburgh blues singer Shari Richards entertains tonight at Jergel’s Rhythm Grill. 8 p.m. No cover. 285 Northgate Dr. Warrendale.
