Stage AE Hosts Edwin McCain; Christian Comedian Mark Lowry Plays Palace (CPs Thurs., 4/24/14)

1) Greenville, S.C., native Edwin McCain is best known for his late-90’s Top 40 hits “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More.” The singer/songwriter/guitarist’s five albums have all charted on Billboard 200. Opening for him at Stage AE is Mark Bryan from Hootie & The Blowfish. Doors open at 8 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) Christian comedian Mark Lowry is funny without using the oft-used crutch of swearing every couple of minutes. He’s also a singer and songwriter, penning the lyrics to the song “Mary, Did You Know?” and performing with the Gaither Vocal Band, a Southern gospel group. 7:30 p.m. Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg.

3) The Cincinnati Reds take on our Pirates again today in a 12:35 p.m. game at PNC Park. Watchin’ the Bucs on the banks of the Allegheny is a very nice way to spend an afternoon. 115 Federal St., North Shore.

4) Are you a Guns n’ Roses fan? Then you’ll be pleased to know the female Guns n’ Roses tribute band Rocket Queens turns Jergel’s into a “Jungle” tonight. 8 p.m. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale
