WYEP Summer Music Festival at Schenley Plaza (CP’s Fri. 6/28/13)

1) Schenley Plaza in Oakland tonight will be quite lively with the WYEP’s 16th Annual Summer Music Festival. This years line-up features Anders Osborne (New Orleans style blues), Jesse Dee (soul and R & B crooner),  Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s (southern rock influenced), and Neighbours (Pittsburgh rock band).  The festival is a family friendly summer music concert, with activities for children and an I Made It! Market  craft marketplace to buy some cool one-of-a-kind items. Bring a picnic basket or buy food from the Plaza’s kiosks and The Porch at Schenley restaurant. Free. 6 p.m. Schenley Plaza is nestled in between Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning on Forbes Ave. and Carnegie and Hillman Libraries.

2) Championship Play Round 2 continues today  at the Constellation Senior Players Championship. This PGA tour stop features two new World Golf Hall of Fame inductees, Fred Couples and Colin Montgomerie. Other big names include Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Larry Nelson, Tom Kite, Sandy Lyle, Nick Price, and Bernhard Langer. Greensburg’s own PGA star Rocco Mediate will also be teeing off in the tournament. 3) The Pirates take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the opening game of a three game home stand at PNC Park. Tonight is a Free Shirt Friday with all fans receiving a free Pirate shirt. North Shore.

4) The Allegheny County Summer Concert Series continues at South Park Amphitheater tonight with BNY Mellon Jazz presenting pianist Monty Alexander 7:30 p.m. Free. Near Brownsville and McCorkle roads.

5) Summer Sounds Concert Series continues with some great jazz music as well. David Bach Consort delivers G-burg some hot Baltimore/D.C.  jazz fusion. Pre-show music by Karl Bailey. 6:15 p.m. Free. St. Clair Park, 135 N. Maple Ave., Greensburg.
