Roger Humphries Trio with Mark Strickland at Savoy; “St. Vincent” and “Dracula Untold” on Local Screens (CPs Mon., 10/27/14)

1)  Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with the Roger Humphries Trio featuring guitarist Mark Strickland. Humphries is one of Pittsburgh’s top percussionists. 6 – 10 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

 

2) St. Vincent, which opened last Friday, features a young boy named Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher) who’s lost his father and starts hanging out with the foul-mouthed, substance-abusing crank next door. Life lessons aplenty will no doubt be learned along the way. Starring Bill Murray as the crackpot, with Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, and Chris O’Dowd. 3) Dracula Untold opened recently, and If you’ve ever wondered just how Vlad the Impaler became Dracula, King of the Undead, this latest movie iteration gives you the backstory. I won’t give it away, but it involves a lot of computer-generated armies fighting each other; Dracula as Action Hero, what will they think of next? With Luke Evans as Dracula and a supporting cast that includes Sarah Gadon and Dominic Cooper. For local screenings check Fandango.
