Pirates Honor Jackie Robinson at Today’s Game (CP’s Mon. 4/15/13)

1) It’s Jackie Robinson Day at PNC Park. The Pirates , and the rest of  Major League Baseball pay tribute to the legendary player who broke baseball’s color barrier. Robinson’s uniform number 42, is retired throughout the league in honor of  this remarkable man. Watch for the new Jackie Robinson movie 42 in local theaters. Today’s opponent is the St. Louis Cardinals.  7:05 p.m. PNC Park, North Side.

2) Butterflies are free to fly and one of God’s most beautiful creatures. At Phipps Conservatory you can experience them live in the Butterfly Forest exhibit. Watch gorgeous Monarchs and Zebra Longwings butterflies emerge from their chrysalises to flutter their little wings in an aerobatic dance among cheerful, bug-friendly flowers and plants. 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. One Schenley Park, Oakland.

3) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Monday’s continues tonight with host band, Roger Humphries Trio and featured musician, jazz vocalist, Spanky Wilson. 5 – 9 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

4) The Balcony Big Band’s hitting only high notes in a Monday night performance at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. 8 p.m. No cover. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.
