Mike Love’s Beach Boys Ride the Wave (CP’s Mon. 4/8/13)

1) Mike Love—a founding member and singer/songwriter for the quintessential American pop-rock band —The Beach Boys, brings his version of the band to Greensburg’s Palace Theatre tonight for a concert. Having reunited last year with Brian Wilson and the other surviving original members for a reunion tour and album, Mike Love continues with his band under the Beach Boy’s banner. The Beach Boys have created many top hits including, “Surfin’ USA” (which Brian Wilson co-wrote with Chuck Berry), “California Girls,” and “I Get Around.” 8 p.m. 21 W. Otterman St.

2) Toots and the Maytals, are a cornerstone group of the reggae music genre, led by Toots Hibbert. Founded in Jamaica in the early 1960’s, Toots and the Maytals are especially well-known for a top charting album and song called Funky Kingston. You can catch their cool reggae vibe tonight. 3) Classic rock band Fathertime makes a rare Monday night performance at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. 8 p.m. No cover. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.

4) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Monday’s continues tonight with host band, Roger Humphries Trio and featured musician,  jazz saxophonist, Jay Willis. 5 – 9 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.
