The Both Plays Mr. Smalls; Greek Food Fest at St. Nicks (CPs Mon., 5/5/14)

1) The Both is the dynamic musical coupling of singer/songwriter/guitarist Aimee Mann and punk/indie rocker Ted Leo. Mann was a guitarist and lead vocalist in the hot ’80’s new wave band ‘Til Tuesday, with the big hit “Voices Carry.” She’s had good adult alternative contemporary music success in the 2000’s with songs like “Pavlov’s Bell” and “Calling It Quits.” Her melodic voice and smart lyrics and music give Mann’s songs their signature hooks. She was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Grammy Award for the soundtrack she created for the ’99 film Magnolia. Leo has had success with several bands, including Citizens Arrest and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Mann and Leo are forging a new path for rock duos and having fun along the way. What a cool “two for.” Special guest is Nick Diamonds of Islands. 8 p.mMr. Smalls  Funhouse. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.
