Chefs Bourdain and Ripert to Cook Up Fun Evening (CP’s Mon. 5/6/13)

1) Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert: Good vs. Evil features two top nationally known chefs, Bourdain, author of Medium Rare and host of the Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” (Bourdain travels the world eating anything the locals do, and I mean anything) and Ripert,renowned chef of Le Bernardin, and author and regular guest on Bravo’s” Top Chef.” They will discuss the impact of food on local, national, and world cultures. Ripert and Bourdain will also tell stories from their own experiences and reveal insights into what really goes on in restaurant kitchens. 7:30 p.m. Benedum Center, 237 7th St.,  Cultural District.

2) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Monday’s continues tonight with host band Roger Humphries Trio and featured musician Mike Tomaro, jazz saxophonist. 5 – 9 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

3) The Balcony Big Band’s hitting only high notes in a Monday night performance at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. Arthur Murray Dance Studio will also be on hand with dance instruction. 8 p.m. No cover. 103 Slade Ln., Warrendale.

4) Check out new and established talent at one of the towns’ best open stage nights, Club Cafe’s AcoustiCafe. The supportive and friendly event is hosted by musicians for musicians (and music lovers). 7 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.
