311, Sublime with Rome at Stage AE; Grand Prix Car Show on Walnut Street (CPs Mon., 7/14/14)

1) 311 is a genre-bending rock band from Omaha (wonder if they know Warren Buffett?) that incorporates elements of alternative, funk, reggae, and rap into their songs. 311, their self-titled 1995 release, went triple platinum and reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart.  Joining them on the bill at Stage AE is Sublme with Rome; special guest is Ballyhoo! Doors open at 6 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) It’s Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, with events going on through July 20. Tonight is the Invitational Car Show on Walnut Street. Here you’ll see a really cool collection of hot and historic cars. Walnut Street will be closed, so you can get a good gander as you stroll past these vintage automobiles. While there, enjoy dinner in one of the neighborhood’s fine establishments. 5 – 9 p.m. Shadyside.

3) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with Tony Campbell’s Jazz Surgery featuring vocalist Fred Pugh III. 6 – 10 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.
