Pirates Take on Braves; Savoy Hosts Elevations (CPs Mon., 8/18/14)

1) The Pirates begin a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves tonight. Let’s hope the Pirate pitchers keep the Braves hitless, thus diminishing the chance of a tomahawk chop celebration. PNC Park. 7:05 p.m. 115 Federal St., North Shore.

2) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with Elevations, a happening, younger generation jazz group. The band is composed of founding members Brett Williams, Anton DeFade, and George Heid III, in addition to the horn section of Michael Stephenson and Benny Benack III. Elevations performed at the 2012 Monterey Jazz Festival. 6 – 10 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

3)  It’s Global Mondays at Cappy’s Cafe in Shadyside with imported bottled beers for only $3. While there, team up an import with a bowl of their scrumptious chili. 5431 Walnut St.
