Miley Cyrus Brings ‘Bangerz’ (Tour) to Pittsburgh (CPs Mon., 8/4/14)

1) It’s an age-old question: Is it better to be a good or bad girl? Miley Cyrus seemed to be as good a girl as one could be, having starred in the Disney kid-com “Hannah Montana,” with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. Then, like former Disney star Britney Spears, she tacked to the dark side for some career cred. Her effort garnered greater awareness last year during the 2013 MTV Video Music awards when she popularized “twerking” and foam hands with big index finger during her duet with Robin Thicke. It all seemed to work for her as her 2013 album Bangerz spawned the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 song, “Wrecking Ball.” Tonight’s concert should provide glimpses of both Cyrus’ good and bad sides. Opening is British pop singer Lily Allen. 7 p.m. Consol Energy Center, 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.

2) Check out new and established talent at one of the city’s best open stage nights, Club Cafe’s AcoustiCafeJoel Lindsey, featuring Mutts (Chicago), is the host of this supportive and friendly event. No cover. 7 p.m. 56 – 58 S. 12th St., South Side.

3) It’s Global Monday at Cappy’s Cafe in Shadyside with imported bottled beers for only $3. While there, team up an import with a bowl of their scrumptious chili. 5431 Walnut St.
