Brad Paisley Beat This Summer Tour; Kool & The Gang at Pirates Game (CP’s Sat. 6/1/13)

1) Glen Dale, West Virginia native Brad Paisley brings his Beat This Summer Tour into the tri-state area at First Niagara Pavilion. Paisley is touring in support of his latest album Wheelhouse, which contains the hit “Southern Comfort Zone.” First Niagara is the second stop on the tour after opening in Toronto on May 31. Special guests are Chris Young and Lee Brice. 7 p.m. 665 Rt. 18,  Burgettstown.

2) Two baseball teams, two Ohio river towns, it could only mean the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. the Cincinnati Reds. After the Pirates get down on the Reds you can “Get Down On It”  for Fan Jam featuring Kool & the Gang in Concert. With hits like “Celebration,” “Let’s Go Dancing,” and  “Fresh” Kool & The Gang are one of the premier funk bands of the 1970’s and ’80’s..  7:15 p.m. PNC Park North Shore.

3) Pens take on the Boston Bruins in the second round playoff opener. 8 p.m. Consol Energy Center, 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.

4)  Pop-rocker Edwin McCain, who’s known for touring with Hootie and the Blowfish and his big hit, “I’ll Be” plays Stage AE tonight. Opening artist is Seth Giler. Doors open at 8 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

5) Bloc Party, an arty-punk, is in concert tonight at Mr. Small’s Funhouse. Influenced by bands such as Sonic Youth and The Cure the Bloc Party guys craft their punk angst in a pop song format. Special guest is Bear Mountain.  8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.
