Hartwood Hosts Grammy Winner Macy Gray; Salsamba at Reservoir (CPs Sun., 8/10/14)

1) Funk/soul singer Macy Graywhose trademarks include catchy songs, a raspy, child-like voice, and flowing hair, takes the stage tonight as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concerts Series. Canton, Ohio native Gray has received five Grammy Award nominations over her career, winning one. She is touring in support of her new album The Way, set for an October 7 release. 7:30 p.m. 200 Hartwood Acres, Hampton and Indiana Townships.

2) Salsamba, a talented and enjoyable Latin jazz group, plays the Citiparks’ Reservoir of Jazz concert this evening at the Highland Park Reservoir. Grooving to Latin jazz is a nice way to spend a Sunday evening . 5-7 p.m., Highland Ave. and Reservoir Dr., Highland Park.

3) For its final show of the summer, the City of Pittsburgh’s Bach, Beethoven and Brunch Classical Music Series offers a free concert today by Klezlectic. The six-piece ensemble plays a unique blend of Klezmer (Eastern European Jewish music), American pop, and jazz. Pack your own brunch basket or buy food at the event—and enjoy this season finale! 10:30 a.m.-noon. Mellon Park, Fifth and Shady Aves., Point Breeze/Squirrel Hill.

4) Our beloved Buccos take the diamond today against the San Diego Padres. It’s also Kids Day with all fans 14 and under receiving a Kids Pirates Ice Cream Bowl and a chance to run the bases after the game. 1:35 p.m. 115 Federal St., North Shore.
