KRS-One Raps at Funhouse; Bugs Bunny Plays Heinz Hall (CPs Thurs., 4/10/14)

1) KRS-One (Knowledge Reins Supreme Over Nearly Everyone) is the moniker for the hip-hop artist and anti-violence and vegetarian advocate Lawrence Krisna Parke. He’s been hailed as the “greatest live emcee ever” and “the writer of the most rhymes in hip-hop.” With 20 albums to his credit and numerous guest appearances with other artists, the accolades are believable. You can feel the groove first hand at Mr. Smalls Funhouse tonight; other invited MCs are Smilo and Jasiri X. 9 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

2) What’s Up Doc? is the common refrain of the animated cartoon character Bugs Bunny. Something’s up at Heinz Hall. Starting tonight and running through Sunday, Bugs and his Looney Tunes friends Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Pepe Le Pew, and more team up with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II. This fun program of animated shorts  accompanied by live classical music is created and conducted by Emmy Award-winner George Daugherty. 7:30 p.m. 600 Penn Ave., Cultural District.

3)  Mario’s East Side hosts its Team Trivia Night every Thursday. Win, place, or show and your team will earn Mario’s gift certificates. Play against the Miller Lite Girls, and you could even win Miller Lite trinkets and giveaways! 8 p.m. 5442 Walnut St., Shadyside.

4) Andys Wine Bar in the lobby of the sleek, luxurious Fairmont Hotel hosts a performance by jazz and cabaret singer Dane Vannatter. 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. No cover. 510 Market St., Downtown.
