Steel Panther Slinks into Stage AE (CP’s Thurs. 4/25/13)

1) Steel Panther struts in for a concert at Stage AE tonight. With that name, you may think they got their start at Pitt, but they’re actually a heavy metal group that hails from L.A., Steel Panther combines humor and profanity in their lyrics and act. Their big hair and over the top costumes parody the heavy metal bands of the 1980’s. Special guest is Hillbilly Herald.  Doors open at  7 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) Club Cafe hosts The Pines, a dynamic indy-rock band that grew out of the Minneapolis music scene. The Pines music is both heart-felt and intimate with a rough side as well. Special guest is The Brushfire. 8 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

3) The CatastropheDoomsday Initiative and Before You are the rock groups playing tonight at the South Side’s Lava Lounge. 9:30 p.m. 2204 E. Carson St.

4) Attention space cadets (and people like myself, who are fascinated by outer space) Hubble,  an IMAX film chronicling the launch, repair and mission of the Hubble space telescope screens today. The film show’s spacewalking astronauts and “mind-blowing” pictures of distant galaxies and constellations. Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. 1:15 p.m. Rangos Omnimax theater. Carnegie Science Center, One Allegheny Ave,. North Shore.
