Deep Space Double Feature at Carnegie Science Center (CP’s Thurs. 5/23/13)

1) Attention space cadets and people fascinated by outer space:  Hubble,  an IMAX film narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, chronicles the launch, repair and mission of the Hubble space telescope.  The film shows space-walking astronauts and “mind-blowing” pictures of distant galaxies and constellations, (1:15 p.m.).  With the new Star Trek Into Darkness movie also showing at Carnegie Science Center (3:15, 5:45, 8:15 and 10:45 p.m.), expand your journey and get a deeper look into the universe.  Both screenings: Rangos Omnimax Theater. Carnegie Science Center, One Allegheny Ave., North Shore.

2) Abigail/1702 is a new play that answers the question: “Remember that girl in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible — the really witchy one, Abigail Williams, who started the trouble that led to the Salem witch trials, then booted it out of town to save her neck while the other girls were being hanged — what ever happened to her?” This spooky sequel is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, directed by Tracy Brigden, and presented at City Theatre.  8 p.m. and at other times through May 26.  1300 Bingham St.,  South Side.

3) The Pirates take on the Chicago Cubs in the last game of a three-game home stand  at  7:05 p.m. tonight. PNC Park. North Shore.

4) Do some drinking and dancing at Belvederes Ultra Dive NEON -80’s Night with DJ Hatesyou 2.0. 9 p.m. 4016 Butler St., Lawrenceville.
