Tammy Pescatelli Plays Pittsburgh Improv (CP’s Thurs. 9/5/13)

1) Comedian Tammy Pescatelli  brings her special brand of hilarity to the Pittsburgh Improv for a three-night stand. Her star rose quickly when she made it to the final five on the NBC TV show “Last Comic Standing 2.” Pescatelli has been a coveted guest on many other shows including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” BRAVO TV”s “Rocco’s Dinner Party,” and CBS’s “The Talk.” Comedy Central’s 2010 “Stand-Up Showdown” crowned Pescatelli as the competition’s winner and she’s also had her own comedy special on the network. Pescatelli grew up in a large Italian family in a city only 133 miles northwest of Pittsburgh (Cleveland), either topic can provide her with great material. (We Pittsburghers also know how to laugh at ourselves). Head on over to the Improv, have a few cold ones and enjoy some great comedy. 8 p.m. Nightly shows through Saturday. 166 E. Bridge St., Homestead.

2)  Escape to an ancient world at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, where “Roads of Arabia: Archaeology and History of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” is currently on display. Showcasing 7,000 years of largely undiscovered cultural history from the Arabian Peninsula, this exhibit reveals a variety of prehistoric artifacts (including an impressive assembly of 200 recently excavated items) along with a wealth of information about a sparsely explored time and place. The Carnegie is one of only five North American venues hosting this exhibit, take advantage of this unique and breathtaking cultural crossroad. Through Nov. 3. 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

3) Dance off some beer carbs while drinking beer (or other beverages) at Belvedere’s Ultra Dive NEON -80’s Night with DJ Hatesyou. 9 p.m. 4016 Butler St., Lawrenceville.

4) College can be tough on a student’s brain and finances. Get relief for both at the Rowdy Buck bar on the South Side.
