Skrillex Show Outdoors at Stage AE; Carnegie Music Hall Hosts Humorist David Sedaris (CPs Tues., 10/21/14)

1) Electronic dance music DJ, singer/songwriter, and producer Skrillex is bringing his audio and visual extravaganza—from alien talk to 3D video portals and a laser light show—to Stage AE tonight. Winner of three Grammy Awards, Skrillex is touring in support of his latest album, Recess, released in March. Should be a good night for all the senses. Opening acts are Big Gigantic, GTA, and Valentino Khan. This is an outdoor show, and doors open at 5:30 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) Author David Sedaris is one of America’s preeminent humor writers. He’s known for his insightful, satirical wit, which often focuses on cultural curiosities and matters of political correctness. Sedaris’ work includes the books Barrel Fever, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, and Holidays on Ice. He sometimes collaborates with his sister, actress/writer/comedian Amy Sedaris under the banner of The Talent Family to write plays. Can you imagine what would happen if Sedaris teamed up with Skrillex? 8 p.m. Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

3)  Thunderbird Café’s Space Exchange series, which explores progressive jazz in relation to other musical genres, continues tonight with an “evening of intense acoustic jazz” from the Thoth Trio, comprising Ben Opie on saxophone and clarinet, Paul Thompson on bass, and David Throckmorton on drums. 9 p.m. No cover. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.
