David Throckmorton & Band Play Thunderbird (CP’s Tues. 4/2/13)

1)  Thunderbird Cafe’s Space Exchange series continues tonight with drummer David Throckmorton. He’ll be joined by the rest of the band: Paul Thompson, bass; Chris Parker, guitar; Akil Esson, MC and Ben Opie: FX. They play an improvisational mix of music, blending hip-hop, jazz, and rock. 9 p.m. No cover. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.

2) The Buffalo Sabres are in town to challenge the Pens in a 7:30 p.m. hockey match at the Consol Energy Center. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.

3)  Local ski areas  Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley Resort are still running skiing and boarding operations due to the cold, snowy spring. If outdoor winter sports aren’t your cup of tea, both resorts offer many other indoor activities: swimming pools, work-out rooms, spa services, and eating and drinking in front of a fireplace. Seven Springs is open today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Hidden Valley from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.The resorts are located east of Pittsburgh in Somerset County.

4) Ceili Dancing will be happening at Mullaney’s Harp & Fiddle tonight. Dancing starts at 7:15 p.m. with lessons for beginners; then live music and dancing go from 8 – 10 p.m. 2329 Penn Ave., Strip District.
