Alice In Chains Brings Rooster to Benedum (CP’s Wed. 5/8/13)

1) Alice In Chains, the multi-platinum selling, alternative rock band is touring to support of their new album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, to be released May 28.  The band started in Seattle  in 1987 and had early success with the songs “Man in the Box” and “Rooster.”  In 2009 Alice In chains achieved more chart topping success with the #1 hits “Check My Brain” and “Your Decision.”   7:30 p.m. Benedum Center. Cultural District.

2) Local jazz great Kenny Blake plays his sax accompanied by the vocals of Maria Shaheen at the Pittsburgh Winery. The two have teamed up on Go Where The Road Leads, a collection of contemporary jazz songs. Added bonus: master percussionist Roger Humphries  is on drums. Enjoy some crisp, clean Chardonnays,  Zinfandels, and more in an interesting wine cellar party room. 7 p.m. 2815 Penn Ave., Strip District.

3) Do you fancy yourself a rock star? Then the place for you tonight is Rock Star Karaoke at the South Side’s Smiling Moose. In addition to pleasing everyone with your great renditions of famous rock songs you’ll enjoy $3 Captain cocktails and half off all Troegs beer from 9-11 p.m. Karaoke starts at 9:30 p.m. 1306 E. Carson St.

4) In the battle for the high seas part II the Seattle Mariners play our Pirates in the second game of the series at 12:35 p.m. PNC Park, North Shore.
