Irish Singer/Songwriter Glen Hansard at Three Rivers Arts Fest (CP’s Wed. 6/12/13)

1) The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival continues today, Pittsburgh’s summer extravaganza featuring 10 days of free art and music, theater productions and hands-on arts activities for kids,  dancing and eating in the streets. Don’t forget the festival food, the well-liked gyros, grilled chicken kabobs, funnel cakes and plenty of deep-fried goodies.  Tonight’s featured musical act is Oscar-winning, Irish singer/songwriter Glen Hansard. 7:30 p.m., Dollar Bank Stage.   The festival opens at noon daily and runs through June 16. Point State Park and Gateway Center, Downtown.

2) Dangermuffin, a South Carolina band (guitar, electric guitar and drums) that incorporates Americana, folk and jam into their music, plays Club Cafe.  Special guest is The Seams. 8 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

3) The Pirates engage the San Francisco Giants in a baseball battle again tonight. 7:05 p.m. PNC Park. North Shore.

4) With the start of the summer swim suit season, and for general health, it may be another good day to enjoy tasty vegan and vegetarian dishes. Some notable vegetarian restaurants include: Quiet Storm: Vegetarian + Vegan Cafe (5430 Penn Ave., Friendship), The Zenith: Vegetarian Cafe*Art Gallery*Antique Goldmine (86 S. 26th St., South Side),  East End Food Co-op Cafe (7516 Meade St., North Point Breeze). Also, most Asian and Indian restaurants offer a nice assortment of vegetarian and vegan dishes.
