GWAR Set to Conquer Mr. Smalls Funhouse; Roger Humphries Trio and Etta Cox at Savoy (CPs Mon., 12/08/14)

1) GWAR can be described as a very heavy metal band with elaborate horror and science fiction costumes, masks, and props. Their songs often include obscene lyrics, and their stage performances contain humorously political and morally deficient themes and acts. Their album titles are interesting as well: Scumdogs of the Universe, This Toilet Earth, We Kill Everything, Lust in Space. This description will either totally repel or excite you. If you are part of the excited, you can catch GWAR with fellow metallurgists Corrosion of Conformity and American Sharks at Mr.Smalls Funhouse. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

2) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with the Roger Humphries Trio featuring one of Pittsburgh’s top vocalists—Etta Cox. Heat up with some great jazz. 6 – 10 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

3) The Imitation Game – Cinema’s current It Boy Benedict Cumberbatch stars in this British biopic about Alan Turing, the man who invented computer science and broke the German Enigma Code that brought WW II to an early close. Instead of being lauded as a war hero, Turing met a far different end. Check Fandango for screens and times.
