Jim Donovan & Sun King Warriors Play Moondog’s; Music of Pittsburgh Convention (Sat., 11/12/22)

1) Jim Donovan & Sun King Warriors bring their lively brand of jam rock to Moondog’s. Donovan and the band’s latest album is 2018’s We See Through It. They describe it by saying, “It illustrates the transformational power of music. Featuring ten songs that span genres and eras ̧ the sound of the new album blends the vintage rock sound of Zeppelin with the alternative folk of Mumford & Sons propelled by barreling drums.” Several songs from the album garnered good radio airplay. The group has had a busy several months with many concerts in the region. 8 p.m. 378 Freeport Rd., Blawnox.

2) Today from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. the Music of Pittsburgh Convention will be held. And oh what a convention it will be with seminars like Digital Marketing, Music & Wellbeing, The History of Pittsburgh Music, Songwriting Tips, How to Release Your First Single and More. Entertainment includes performances by Chip and the ChargeUps, Devin Russian, The Parishables, Royce, No Sleep for Zombies, a hip hop showcase from Dreamz of Music, and more. There will also be a 3 a.m. EDM session with Maximus Monk. All of this will take place at the Forge Urban Winery. There will be a Friday night pre-party at Hard Rock Cafe. 210 E. 7th Ave., Homestead.
