Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins; Shari Richards Plays Jergel’s (CPs Wed., 4/1/15)

1) The Pens are still searching for the magic mix that gets them best positioned for the playoffs. Tonight they get another opportunity to work out the kinks with a 8 p.m. game against the intensely disliked Philadelphia Flyers.  Let’s hope the Pens make fools of the Flyers. This is the first of the remaining two regular season home games. Consol Energy Center, 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.

2) Do you have a case of the winter-spring blues? Local music staple Shari Richards is singing them away at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. Richards was once cast as the Acid Queen in Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s rock opera Tommy, and she has also collaborated with the likes of local favorites Norm Nardini and Billy Price. Tonight she performs with her trusty guitar to show us all that anything the boys can do, she can do better—and in heels. No cover. 8 p.m. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.

3) Looking for a mid-week celebration then check out Ketel One Wednesdays at Olive or Twist in the heart of the Cultural District. Noted as one of Pittsburgh’s best restaurants for cocktails the past three years, Olive or Twist has a martini bar that is a perfect place to wind down for happy hour, dinner before a show, or a post-performance nightcap. You can enjoy $7 Ketel One cocktails and martinis this evening. Get there early for happy hour, 4 – 6  p.m., when it’s $1 off all draft beers, $5 for Chardonnay or Cabernet, and $2 off specialty martinis. Also half-price Buffalo Chicken Spread and Truffle Fries. 140 6th St.
