Under The Sun Tour Shines on Stage AE (CPs Sun., 7/13/14)

1) The Under the Sun tour packages popular ’90s bands Blues Traveler, Sugar Ray, Uncle Kracker, and Smash Mouth into a fun summer mini-fest. Blues Traveler started its journey in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. The band is led by John Popper and touches on the musical genres of blues, folk, psychedelic, and southern rock. Blues Traveler’s top hits are “Run-Around” and “Hook.” California rockers Smash Mouth scored a few chart burners themselves including “All Star” and “Walkin’ on the Sun.” It should be a great night to hear hits from several differen popular bands. Doors open at 6 p.m. Stage AE400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) BNY Mellon Jazz Presents Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra with special guest Paquito D’Rivera, winner of multiple Grammy Awards for his work on sax, clarinet, and flute. The musicians will dazzle the crowd tonight with an outdoor show at Hartwood Acres as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. 7:30 p.m. 200 Hartwood Acres, Hampton and Indiana townships.

3) The City of Pittsburgh’s Bach, Beethoven and Brunch Classical Music Series offers a free concert today by pianist Tom Roberts, and “classical” music in this case includes classical jazz: Roberts is a master of the early jazz piano style known as Harlem Stride. This concert series runs every Sunday through Aug. 10 in Mellon Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Pack your own brunch basket or buy food at the park. Fifth and Shady Aves., Point Breeze/Squirrel Hill.
